Volunteer at Shoreline at Mountain View

Volunteer to restore upland marsh transition zone habitat for local wildlife. Expect to learn about the ecology of our local baylands and participate in various ways of taking care of our public lands. During the workday, we will be planting native plants along the marsh!

Waivers/Registration: All volunteers attending the workday must be registered individually and have approved the online waiver through this Eventbrite page. Youth under 18 must have their legal guardian approve the waiver on their behalf. Volunteers age 12 and under require an accompanying adult.

Parking: Shoreline Golf Links Parking Lot [Google Maps link]

Alternate Transportation: Walking/Human-powered locomotion: Take the Bay Trail. This trail is a popular paved pedestrian/cycling trail that is connected to many other paved trails such as the Permanente Creek Trail, Stevens Creek Trail, Adobe Creek Loop Trail. Bus: none

Meeting Space: Bay Trail at Mountain View Slough marshlands directly south of Pond A2W [Google Maps link]. Please note that this is about a 6 min (0.3 mile) walk from the parking lot. Restrooms and water fountains are available at the golf course facilities which is about a 7 min (0.4 mile) walk from the meeting space.

Prepare for Working Outdoors:

  • Face mask for COVID-19 safety (optional)

  • Reusable water bottle (filled with water)

  • Snacks, if desired

  • Long pants, long sleeves recommended

  • Sturdy closed-toed shoes that can get dirty

  • Hat/sunscreen or rain gear/boots

  • Epi-Pen or allergy medicine, if applicable

  • Plan for potential exposure to sun

We will provide gloves, tools, and snacks

Event Cancellations:

We are committed to the safety of our staff and volunteers. In the event that we must cancel a workday due to extreme weather conditions or poor air quality, a Grassroots Ecology staff person will reach out via email no later than 5:00 PM the day prior to this event.

Grassroots Ecology encourages people from all identities and backgrounds to participate in our programs. Many of our programs are outdoors and involve moving and working in a variety of landscapes.
