Volunteer at Pearson-Arastradero Preserve

  • Pearson-Arastradero Preserve 1530 Arastradero Road Palo Alto, CA, 94304 United States (map)

During this community volunteer workday, we will be working together to care for our habitat restoration areas. Activities will include watering, mulching and weeding. These activities help us to increase the biodiversity at the preserve by supporting our native plants and preparing new areas to plant next year.

Restoration activities include digging with tools, shoveling mulch, and carrying buckets of water/wood chips. They may involve lifting, bending, and walking on flat and uneven terrain.

Pearson-Arastradero Preserve has expansive oak woodlands and grasslands with beautiful trees and wildflowers and is home to an abundance of wildlife, including deer, bobcats, coyotes, and many species of birds and insects. The work you do will support the health of the preserve's ecosystems!

Visit Grassroots Ecology’s Pearson-Arastradero Preserve webpage to learn more about the ecosystem and accessibility considerations. We will release more details closer to the date of the event. Keep an eye out for an email containing information about what to bring, wear, etc!

Grassroots Ecology is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to caring for public lands and waters across Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. Each year they engage thousands of people in hands-on education and service that improves our local environment.

Grassroots Ecology’s aim is to restore natural functions to the ecosystem by keeping invasive plants in check, growing locally native plants at their nursery, supporting stream restoration and fish passage projects, and planting a diversity of species in order to feed wildlife.
