Stickers for Stewards: Collect Them All!

Volunteer with Grassroots Ecology to receive one of our new habitat stickers! Our 8 new stickers represent some of the irreplaceable ecosystems we are all working together to restore.

With these stickers, we celebrate the dedicated stewards who give their time and energy to strengthening the biodiversity of our local ecosystems – you!

Meet our sticker designer: lifelong volunteer, Kayla Smernoff! Thanks to Kayla’s dad, David, a founding Board Member of Grassroots Ecology, Kayla has been involved with stewardship at sites like Pearson-Arastradero Preserve since she started walking.

Kayla then: exploring Pearson-Arastradero Preserve during construction of the interpretive center.

Kayla now: still exploring nature and hiking in local open spaces!

Now, Kayla attends Howard University as a Journalism major and Graphic Design minor. The habitat sticker project bridged her love of design with her appreciation for local lands. In the future, she hopes to continue exercising her creativity and passion through culture, arts, and environmental journalism.

We are so excited to distribute these stickers that celebrate our thriving local ecosystems and the volunteers who steward them. Thank you, Kayla, for sharing your incredible design work with us and for bringing these new stickers to life!

Start your sticker collection by volunteering outside with Grassroots Ecology! Check out our event calendar to find volunteer opportunities in your favorite ecosystems.
